Rapper Curtis James Jackson III, known as 50 Cent, is the subject of a lawsuit filed on Thursday, relating to an incident that occurred during his performance at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on August 30, 2023. The legal action also implicates music entertainment company AEG and G-Unit Touring as additional defendants.
The lawsuit stems from the rapper throwing a microphone off stage after it malfunctioned, which resulted in hitting and severely injuring POWER 106 radio host Bryhana Monegain. Monegain claims that the impact of the microphone caused injuries to her face, left wrist, and resulted in a concussion. She was subsequently treated for her injuries at a local Los Angeles hospital and photos released by TMZ show a deep, open gash visible on her forehead.
Monegain is suing for damages related to the injuries she sustained during the incident. This includes compensation for medical expenses, as well as wages she lost during her recovery. Additionally, Monegain is seeking damages for emotional distress resulting from the incident.
50 Cent's attorney, Scott Leemon, rejects any deliberate misconduct on the rapper's part and emphasizes the accidental nature of the incident.
